The Mobile Eye and Minor Surgery Clinic was “gifted” (handed-over) to the Thai Red Cross Society March 2007. Initial plans were that PDG Werner Schwarz and his wife Lea would attend representing the Host Rotary Club and District 5160; and, that Dr. Stuart Seiff and his wife Marilou would attend representing the Simonsen Family. A medical situation with Werner requiring hospitalization caused the Schwarz couple to cancel their plans and the Seiff couple carried on representing all US interests. Given the gifting was to HRH Princess Maha Chaki Sirindhorn, Executive Director of the Thai Red Cross Society and that many Government Officials and Rotary Officials were in attendance the affair was planned, then re-planned again.
